my wages were garnished.I got my writ or notice from a payday co handed to me at work 4 days after they took the money.I had no idea Iwas being sued!!I paid them off in four payments of cash within eight weeks of being forced to close my checking account.they agreed to this and gave me receipts (you know those like cash register ones that fade all are clear but one.I asked for my checks back they said they probably shredded them what should I do

Hi,

This is a store front lender, right? Did you physically go into the building to make the payments, or did you mail them?

Have you called them or gone in there since you got your copy of the judgement? What may've happened is this...The company might've already filed for the judgement when you made arrangements, so the whole thing is already in progress. Your word will not be good enough to stop this, so you will have to make sure you show the company every bit of proof you have, no matter how faded the receipts are. Going to your employer will not do any good, since they cannot stop a garnishment without a notice of release.

You have to move fast. Good luck with that, keep us posted.
