I posted last week that I had spoken to CCCA/Hess Kennedy and we had NOT signed and returned the contracts. We decided not the work with these companies due to research we had done. So I posted on here to see what to do in order for the initial payment to not be taken out of our account. I also faxed and emailed the company asking for this to not happen since we were not actual clients. Well guess what?!? They debited my account anyway. When I called CCCA all they could tell me was it was company policy. They charged me $336 to print off some papers!!!! I want my money back considering they didn't actually do any "legal work" for me and most importantly I didn't authorize them to take my money. Can someone please help me out?

Im glad you got your money back. I have no experience in dealing with CCCA, but at least your money was refunded.

I would say contact CCCA/Hess Kennedy to find out why the removed the money, since you say you never signed the contract, usually I dont give out any personal info until Iam sure that the company is legit.

Try to find out why the took the money and if it want authorized i would go to my bank, and request an investigation to credit my account back.

Also try BBB to see if they have a good contact number posted. :)

Would it be easier to go with a debt consolidator or a lawyer ?

I was just wondering if anyone in debt consolidation with Hess Kennedy had gotten any resolution? I really need help; however, I'm not in Florida.

Thank you,
AB

It did take time for them to contact my creditors and I thought I got scammed at the time. But in the end, they did what they told me they would do. I was happy and relieved to get control of my debt.

I used CCCA a decade ago and found the experience a mixed bag. Meaning, there were indeed many surprises of what they handled and what they didn't. For example, I was surprised that they didn't tell me my credit score would be negatively impacted by the debt settlement activities. I thought that only the credit damage I had caused would be reflected, but not so, it got worse. On the other hand, the results were far better than what would have occured had I not engaged with them.

As CCA Attorney has stated, electronic debits happen immediately and they can take a few days to reiumburse. It's a pain, yes, but little can be done to remedy it, save time.

Kati - it depends on your situation and how much debt you have. If you go with a debt consolidation company, you will make 1 monthly payment to them and they will disburse payments to all of your creditors. They can get a lower interest rate and in some cases, get the late fees waived after you have been in the program for a certain amount of time. But, you will ultimately be paying off the full balance of all of your debts, which can sometimes take 5 years or more.

If you have a large amount of unsecured debt, you could choose debt settlement as an option. You can either do this yourself or pay a company to do it for you. You or the company will be negotiating a settlement for less than the full balance of each debt. So, if you owed $8,000 on a credit card, you may be able to get the credit card company to agree to a settlement of $3,000 to clear the account.

Whichever option you choose, definitely research any companies that you are considering working with. They will all try to convince you that they are the best, have the best record, proven results, blah, blah. Ask as many questions as you can, check their record with the BBB, Google them to see what info. you can find. If they are extremely pushy, give you vague answers or avoid answering any questions you have and just push for you to enroll with them, then pay attention to these warning signs.

If someone need the use of debt consolidation it should be with a firm that they can actually meet with them in person due to they have someone that is real and that has an actual office to go to for business. Also I think it would be best to have them start performing the duties as such before payment is made.

Hess Kennedy are a bunch of ripoffs. They thought they were going to get away with my $500 and do nothing for me, ha ha I had the bank stop payment to them before my money had reached their account.
Sorry Suckers
Nobody should go through them.

I have been in the debt settlement field for 4 years. The major problem these days is sales people who dont explain their programs to consumers correctly. The fact is, many sales people and companies will tell a customer anything to get them enrolled in their programs. There are FTC rules in place. Companies who claim to stop collection calls, send cease and desist letters to creditors are in violation. look around, there are good, honest companies out there that completely explain their programs. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. ***********.net

This is for anyone out there who is currently working with Hess Kennedy or who thought they might contact this comasspany. The company is being dissolved due to fraudelant practices and the managing lawyer is being disbarred. We found out quite through accident as it did not seem like they had any intention of telling us whatsoever. We have lost thousands of dollars as virtually none of the money we paid them monthly went to paying our creditors. Be careful and do your homework before working with a debt consolidation firm.
