I sent a certified letter to the collection agency for debt validation and request all communication take place in writing. I haven't yet received anything from them. They did make a few phone calls the first two weeks following their signing for the letter, but I haven't heard anything from them since. What should I do? A friend recommended I send a second copy of the letter stating it is a second notice.

collection agencies must respond to your validation request. If you hear nothing from them and have entered negative information in your credit file, dispute with the credit bureau. They will investigate with the company and remove the incorrect item.

The federal laws restrict the collectors from making any further contacts with the person until the debt is put with correct information. Take legal help of an attorney dealing with lawsuits of fdcpa violations. You have the legal rights to take the CA to the court and recover the damages caused to you.
