I had a collection agency in Montana contact me a 1 1/2 yrs ago? I haven't heard from them since. Can you tell me if I still owe money?
A collection agency is required to send you something in writing
A collection agency is required to send you something in writing to validate the debt and tell you who the creditor is. Did you receive anything in writing?
Also, it might be an idea to check your credit report with all 3 credit reporting agencies to see if anything regarding this debt appears and what the status is....
If there's nothing on your credit reports and you never received a debt validation letter from the collection agency, I wouldn't worry about it further.

If the collection agency starts using their illegal tactics, they might file a case behind your back and make legal case against you because of your ignorance. He will try to prove it in front of the judge. I will send a debt validation letter to the collection agency if they have done at least one contact with me. The debt validation letter sent through certified mail will prove that I had taken the necessary actions to know the details of the debt. The green receipt will prove out the facts.
