Are there programs that are not based on Home Equity Loans that can consolidate credit cards. I've got about 22,000.00 in credit card debt. I find that every month I can pay the minimum or a bit above that. What I need is a lower interest rate and one darn payment. I've had one late payment on a bank credit car but not even sure if that will show up on my credit. Other than that I'm clean as a whistle.

I think there are a lot of people in my position and I'd like to know if there are options for me

Hi Joe

Most consolidation companies won't take your home equity loans in the program because it is attached with your property. They don't want to work with any debts that are attached with collateral.

The credit card debts are unsecured, they can be combined together into one monthly payment and the payment plans will be done as your financial situation favors. The consolidation companies will also be able to lower the interest rates with your credit companies. This is one of the advantages because of which this program is becoming helpful to many struggling through debts. Some more benefits shall also be offered by your creditors if you make the payments in time. Your consultant will help you with some budgeting tips so that you don't default in your consolidation payments. The benefits of the consolidation program are explained in this page.
