Has anyone dealt with them? I sent them the same letter that I sent to CTC but one of their collections managers called me the very next day. I put in the letter that I only wanted to be contacted by email or us mail. I even specifically told them not to call me at work. He called me at home and at work (I saved both the messages that he left). I tried to call him back but his voicemail came on. I left a message telling him that he had violated the fdcpa act and that I would only communicate with him by email or us mail. In the letter that I wrote him, I told him that I would like to make payment arrangements with him but only on my terms. Which is that I would only pay them the interest that the state of Texas allows. I then got on this website and found the a post about how the State of Nevada had put a ceast and desist order on E Dollars Direct in May and that they were not allowed to do business at all and that all accounts for them are clear. I will now send them another letter tomorrow with a copy of this article from the State of Nevada website. I'll let you know how it goes.

The FDCPA0 does not apply to orignal crditors (in this casr the PDL if they are trying to collect their own debt). It is very important to read the fdcpa and under stand what effect it has and on who. The Collections indsty is always busily trying to create gray areas to keep the semi knowledgable on the short end, and unwittingly making fools of themselves. ( I dont mean that to sound mean or snobby), it is VERY important to read and understand these laws before using them to counter illegal or ethically questionable tactics of these creditors and collectors.

LCW, Thanks for the link. You are so right everyone needs to read and understand the fdcpa. That's how creditors are ablt to get the upper hand on people because people are not aware of their rights (me included until I found this site). I'm currently trying to get out of the pdl cycle. This site has been very helpful.

State fines unlicensed Internet loan company $50,000

(Las Vegas, NV) ???????? State Financial Institutions Division Deputy Commissioner Steven Kondrup has issued a cease and desist order against Internet lender MW Marketing dba Freedom Financial Group and EDOLLARDIRECT.com to stop loan and check cashing activities immediately. The Las Vegas-based company has been engaging in deferred-deposit loans, short-term loans, title loans and check-cashing services without a state license, a violation of Nevada law.

Earlier this month, state examiners discovered that the company was operating loan and check-cashing services via the Internet at EDOLLARDIRECT.com as well as other electronic media.

Kondrup ordered the maximum fine of $50,000. The order also provides remedies to consumers by allowing other parties involved in check cashing or loan activities to void their contracts and seek additional remedies or penalties through civil court.

???????Consumers should be wary of giving their personal information to an Internet company without first verifying that the company is licensed to conduct business in Nevada. Otherwise, they could be prey to identity theft and financial risks, and the state could do little to help them,??????? Kondrup advised.

For more information, log on to www.fid.state.nv.us or call the Nevada Financial Institutions Division, (702) 486-4120, Las Vegas, or (775) 684-1842, Carson City.
