Sharon, if credit counseling is your preferred route there are some very good companies out there. T&C works with payday loans and is meticulous about getting you through the process. The CCCS chapter for your area is another good choice. CCCS is a very reputable non-profit which, from what I've been told, makes sure there is a "counselling" component to credit counselling. By that I mean that in addition to working out payment plans with your creditors, they also help you develop the skills necessary to avoid similar difficulties in the future.
