I had a debt charged off 3 years ago with Discover. 2 collection agencies contacted me on different occasions. I wrote a letter of validation to both parties, but never received anything. Now, all of a sudden I have something on my credit report from Palisades, saying they bought an account from Option. Palisades has NEVER contacted me. How can they report to the credit bureau without notifying me of any debt collection? Can they attempt to collect a debt 3 years later?

Hi! Palisades can only enter remarks in your credit report if they have your file. You may call Palisades at 201-567-5648 and get the specifics. They might say that the info was sent to you earlier. Verify the address used by them in that case. You must verify everything before giving Palisades any space to be in your credit report.
