Depends on your state's laws. Some states allow leins on homes and allow the person's account to be frozen or have a lein on the account. If a lein is put on your house usually if you try to sell it you have to pay off the debt or if you sell the house and you are getting funds out of the sale then what you owe towards the lein will be deducted from what you make from the sale.
