He said my balance was 600 on a 300 loan and that he was offering me a settlement. I informed him that I contacted the attorney general and that they have to adhere to my state laws on finance charge...and he said indiana's an republican state and they dont follow those laws anymore..???? What the heck does that mean?

Hello Welcome to the forums. Sounds to me like he was being a jerk. Stand your ground. They will threaten everything. They will tell you you are going to jail, anything they can to keep getting the money. Have you overpaid them? Good Luck Kyside38

All you are legally required to pay them back according to Indiana pdl laws is $335. The maximum allowable finance charge for Indiana is $35, and all finance fees, late fees and other charges are also subject to this limitation.

I would type up a letter to them (mailed via certified mail/return receipt requested) stating that you had asked that the loan be rescinded and they refused to cooperate without charging you to do it. I would then inform them that the amount you are legally obligated to repay them is $335 according to the small loan lending laws in the state of Indiana, and you are also aware that their company is not licensed in Indiana.

Give them a repayment proposal and state that payments will be made via money order to their address in Utah. State that you are prepared to file complaints against them with the Utah BBB, Indiana Attorney General and Indiana Dept. of Finance so they can follow up, should Cashnet500 be unwilling to work with you to settle this matter.

Also, be sure to close your bank account. They have so many different business names that just blocking one won't work. They will withdraw money under a different name. Also, since you are registered on this site I would use the free phone call recording option. I'm using it to record all of my phone calls with them and I'm finding it is coming to be a godsend!

I'm getting calls from a "Mr. Obin" or something like that. He did say he was smoking crack to me, as a joke I'm sure, but still, they all act like they are on drugs. He was crazy mean to me once, then called me the next day like he'd never talked to me before! I refreshed his memory and he hung up on me!
