I just found out the other day PDL's are illegal in MD

Hi there. I am in Maryland, and as I just found out the other day PDL's are illegal in MD. What about loans that we had in the past, but were paid off completely. For instance, my husband had on with Payday ok. It was recently paid off. However, once I calculate, I'm sure it was well over the limit that I should have paid. It took 8 months to pay it off. I now see that they do not do business in MD.

Is there any way to get the overpayment back from them, among other pdl's? Just curious. That would be great though. We are in a whole nother bind, that I am taking control of, but just wondering about previous loans.

File a complaint with your AGs office and send the pdl company a letter stating the fact you have filed this complaint and attatch your state's pdl laws, and demand a refund. And if they deny you, keep sending the letter.

I think it depends on when your husband took the loan out. If the loan was accepted prior to the passage of this legislation (It has been recently passed, by the way), then it may not be subject to the current laws of MD. Check with the MD Attorney General's office to know for sure and keep us updated on what you find out!! I know it will help others on this site.

They accepted my settlement of "paid in full" and I included pas

They accepted my settlement of "paid in full" and I included past loans in my letter, but they did not give me a refund on overcharge of interest. I have read in this website that they gave refunds though, so I would give it a try, it can't hurt anything.
