Hi, welcome to the forums. I'm sorry about your troubles.

Keep putting in applications! Something is better than nothing, and a lot of places will be hiring for seasonal help. As far as your utilities go..I am an HR rep for a major national utility provider..I'm sorry, I can't say which one..And it is our policy NOT to disconnect during the holiday season. Call your utility companies and explain your situation, my company works with the Salvation army to help customers pay their bills, most utility companies offer some sort of assistance. Also, you can make payment arrangements witht them.

Good luck, please keep us posted, we're here for you.

Greetings and welcome!

I can identify with your situation - I've been there a few times myself.

Please take heart, your situation is not permanent. Someone out there has the perfect job for you. I know it's hard to make it day to day when you don't know where the next dollar is going to come from to pay those bills.

Have you considered going to local charities or your church (if you attend) for assistance temporarily? Don't let your pride get in the way of getting the basics you need, like your power and heat. If you have a decent payment history with your utility companies, most of them are very willing to work with you, and many gas companies have a winter protection plan that allows you to pay a standard amount every month and catch up in the spring - the plan usually will keep you from having your heat turned off.

Best wishes, keep us posted.

Welcome to the Forums :D I'm sorry to hear about your situation, I've been there, too. Like it was mentioned, alot of churches, even if you don't go there, will help temporarily with utilities. Also check in your phone book for local helping agencies, my town is small, but they offer assistance. Like Fins said, the Salvation Army,United way, check them all out. Good Luck, let us know how it goes...KAren

Also,
Have you thought about taking work as an Independent Contractor--something like driving a cab, for example or cleaning houses?
I cleaned houses when I was between jobs once and worked for an agency. Didn't pay a whole lot, but the work was steady and it was a paycheck. It would also buy you some time to go on interviews.
And speaking of temp work, possibly retail at this time of season?
Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing?
