Help!!I have so much debt, I really want to clean up credit

I have so much debt and I really want to clean up my credit, but how? I haven't paid on my cards since probably about 1999-2000. I was young and stupid and now I'm paying for it. I have one creditor threatening to take me to court. I have no idea what to do. I feel like I have the worst credit in the world and I have no idea what to do. Should I file Bankruptcy? I probably owe about $8-9,000 and of course these are all in collections now. What do I do? Can someone help?

Laurie-Welcome :D You might try calling the 800 number, they may just be really busy. Have a look at the statutes of Limitations by state at http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html#T Look for you state and see if you debts are still in the SOL period or not.
