I signed with consumer credit counseling of america and they referred me to R. A. Brennan. Since then everything that I have been reading about him on this site has me scared to death and sick to my stomach! I paid up front- stupid - I know which I really can't afford, but I need immediate help - I really cannot wait or be blown off as some people have been writing.

You have the right to cancel the contract anytime in between the program. Call the company and make your request in writing. Before you do this, make sure you have understood the program and know when they will start negotiations with your creditors.

I assume you have signed for a debt settlement program. This program requires enough patience and accounts remain in defaults for a certain period of time. The settlement company does not begin the negotiations before you put money in the new account. You don't start seeing results after paying the upfront money and after making a couple of payments in the new account. What did R&B say about the program before you paid upfront?

You should know how the program works. The debt settlement company should have clearly explained the process. They have to answer all your queries on your call. The terms that you signed with the settlement company are very important. Go through the contract carefully. Don't leave it on fate and because you made the mistakes in the past. You have the right to know what you are paying for.

Read this article on debt settlement33 and browse through the forum. You will learn how this program functions. Many here are using the services. They may assist on your questions.
