Actually, International Cash Today from UK is AKA GFSIL and it looks like they had a tie-up with Route 66 Funding in the US to continue their business.

(gfsil.com and route66funding.com), both are identical websites, which is a dead give away for me.

Ya know, since you were talking about Cash Today...I haven't heard anything from them since back in November and I don't wanna get anything stirred up again, but I still haven't seen anything about my PIF letter...

astmancls1971 - good question, and one that has been hotly debated here by many.

Consider the following:

-this company operates from the UK but has call centers in other countries (apparent from the varying accents of the collection personnel - ranging from Mexican to Indian to Cockney English - all of which speak very fast in order to confuse you)

-they are not licensed in any state in the US, as far as I can tell. I haven't seen a post yet that says they are.

-they do not do paper contracts - only "recorded phone contracts". In most states (if not all) in the United States, this is illegal when it comes to payday lending.

-No wage assignment agreement is physically signed by the borrower - therefore, no wage assignment can be carried out - at least not in MY state - and I think, in many others.

-They charge usurious interest rates, which are prohibited in most states.

-Many states prohibit rollovers or renewals unless no fee is charged. Rt. 66 does renewals and charges a fee.

-If they tried to proceed with legal action, THEY would be the ones arrested, the minute they stepped foot in a US courtroom, for lending illegally. The borrrower must follow the laws of the state where the lender resides. If you review other posts on this company on this site, they do not appear to do this at all, and don't seem to care that they don't, but they are quick to threaten legal action if you don't pay what they want.

Given all this information, I really doubt they could try to proceed with legal action against anyone in the US. They are based in the UK, and are even breaking laws there - but again, they don't seem to care. If you have a loan out with them, the best thing you can do is check your state's PDL law. If they are not licensed in your state, and are breaking your state's PDL laws, do the following:

-find out what your principal balance is (they usually loan only $200 per person in principal)

-if you have already paid them $200, plus the allowable interest in your state (again, this should be listed in the PDL law for your state), stop paying. They will call you repeatedly, threaten you with arrest, jail time, wage garnishment, etc. They cannot do any of this. And be prepared for some very rude phone calls - they can get nasty when they know you're going to fight them.

-report this company to the Better Business Bureau and your state's Attorney General. File a formal complaint with your state's AG to get the ball rolling - a few states have already opened investigations on this company, including WV and MI.

When I was searching for payday loans I got contacted by Route 66 a few weeks ago. It was beyond shady since the call center was so loud, the operator spoke such poor English, and the offer of a $200 loan with $85 fee was such a joke. Then I get a call from GFIS or whatever and it sounds the same. I ask them are they affiliated with Route 66 and the guy says "we're sister companies."

How could this be surprising considering it's the same offer, the same noisy call center, the same Indian-sounding operators?

apes, when did they admit to that??? that i know i they did not say that "we" the people dealing with them are the ones putting 2 and 2 together. they definetly did not admit that to me.

another thing they also have spanish speaking operators that are just rude as the indians that are located in the "UK".

Ok folks, why don't we return to the matter at hand - discussing debt and those issues - this is completely unproductive and isn't helping anyone at all.

I, for one, vote we go back to discussing debt and PDL's, which is what the forums were created for. If someone offends, ignore them and they will eventually lose interest in the baiting game. Respond, and they are encouraged and will respond back to keep it going.

Anyone had calls from Rt. 66 that were nothing but static?? I had five (yes FIVE) messages on my phone - but every single one was so static-y that I could just barely make out what might have been a voice, but couldn't make out any words at all. I strongly suspect they were calls from Rt. 66, but can't be sure.

ok so now i know about gfsil now what about arrowhead investments? anyone heard of them? i owe them $$ too and they send me about 10 emails a day. i got a phone call from a ron reynolds today telling me "you did not do what you said you would and i'm calling to say that i will do what ever is necessary to get this money. i called the states office today in IA and this company is not registered in IA. I got an 'unofficial letter' from them. i took out a loan for $300 back in sept and apid them $180 adn now he says i owe them $667 what the #$$#? how did $300 turn into $667... anyway if someone can tell me anything about his company feel free. and yes i did file a complaint with anyone and everyone i could think of.
