I have a few payday loans out. 8 to be exact. Between all the fees being taken out of my checking account I have no moneys for the rest of my bills, let alone paying the things off. I was wondering if it is ok to put a stop payment on all of these and then get a hold of all the loan companies and make arrangements to pay them. I figure that if I did that I could have them all paid off by the end of Feb.
Or will this get me in even more trouble? Like could I be taken to jail or will they harrass myself and family/friends/work endlessly?

Welcome to the forums!

Can you give us some information on the loans you have out, so we can offer you some advice? We need the following to give you accurate advice:

-companies you took loans out with
-original amount of each loan, and how much you have paid on each loan so far
-state you live in
-whether these are storefront or internet loan companies

If you can give us that info, we can offer you some advice. It's not a good idea for us to just give you a blanket statement of advice without having more detail on your loans. We want to provide you the best possible information.

Also, if you register with this site, a debt counselor will contact you for a free phone consultation - many of the companies referred by this site will work with payday loans as well in a debt consolidation or settlement situation.

Welcome to the forums. Please go to paydayloaninfodotorg and look up your state laws on payday lending. In many states it is illegal. Check your secretary of state website to see if a particular company is licensed to do business in your state. Also please contact your state Attorney Generals office consumer divison and ask for help. Best Wishes KYSIDE38
