Hi, has anyone dealt with any of the debt reduction companies. They claim to be able to negotiate your debts down and allow for a payment schedule which stops the creditors and CAs from calling. We had originally filed a Chapter 13 but decided against it. Therefore we have a few creditors coming out of the woodwork. We negotiated ourselves with a few of them and paid them off. However, we don't have any funds left for lump sum payments and can only afford modest payments now to the leftovers. I tried to negotiate with Honda for a repo deficiency and the lady was nasty and told me to keep my "hundred bucks" and hung up. Can these companies really negotiate with these monsters?

Two of my accounts were settled by my debt settlement company. I was able to afford the payments set in the plan and they did the negotiations with my creditors nicely. It was a relief.

debt settlement companies are there to negotiate with the creditors and arrange a lower pay off. They are into business for this purpose only. However, you will have to research the company with the legal authorities and confirm about their legitimate business. You don't want to sign up with some company that turns out to be a scammer and run away with your money.
