i am only 19 years old, i was going through a rough period in my life, so i handled it the only way i knew how... spending money. i bought a bunch of pointless things that i have nothing to show for, and now i cant even open a bank account. i work as a CNA and have for many years, i make $10.00 an hour starting the 1st of next month. i work monday through friday for 6 hours each day, and every other saturday. i have many illness that cause me to miss alot of work. i live with my wife emily. i am the onyl one employeed, and i pay all the bills. i am on a very limited budget, however i would really like to start my life over, have a new start and right all the wrongs i have done. i would greatly appresiate your help or any suggestions you may have as to what i should do. thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi shalisa
You have come to the right place for help. This group will advise you with valuable tips on how to handle your finance. Most of us here have gone through rough times and are correcting their previous mistakes. As you registered here, someone from your area will call and discuss about a consolidation/settlement program.
You can put any questions here and we'll answer. One important thing that you need to consider is to increase your source of income. The more you earn, you will be able to pay your debts with ease and save some portion for other necessary needs. Maybe, you can take a part time job until the debts are paid off.

I am so sorry that at the age 19 you are going through a tough time. I understand because I too was in debt at the age of 19. I filed bankruptcy at the age of 25. It was not the greatest moment in my life. I would hope that you are nowhere near that deep in debt.
You have made a mistake and admitted it. That's the first step. I couldn't even approach my family and my friends because I was so ashamed at the fact that I couldn't handle my finances. But I did like you foolish things. Eat out all of the time, brought expensive things, tried to be something that I wasn't in college. So that I could fit in. So that I could belong. Man, when I look back now, I am amazed at what I have gone through and how far I have come.
I recommend that you read my blog. It will tell you about my journey. It will hopefully give you some hope and some help. I know what is like to be in that position and looks like no where to turn. But you have come to the right place like we all have done. There are people here who understand what you are going through.

Shalisa,
Welcome! I agree with Gunsnroses and also think you should increase your income. I see that you work as a CNA. Have you thought about doing registry work? You can basically set your own hours and you could get a job as a "sitter", which is sitting with a patient in an acute hospital. You should check this out! PM me if you have questions.

Are you in school? DOn't they have a work study program where you can attend class and then go to work?
Being a "sitter"
i am used to a fasted past environment, and doing in home care is so boring, i just clean house and take my client to the bathroom once or twice the entire time i am there. i need something more hands on. unfortunatley through the months i have become more attached to her and i would feel bad leaving her without a caregiver, but i need to start doing for me... i did for others and look where it got me. i sm intrested in a differnt job, so keep your eye out that would be great.
