I just received this email from National. All that I owe them is $20 and I refuse to pay $14.95 for a $20 payment. What can I do now?

Irhall--

I just checked on the BBB website and found two addresses for this company.

National Payday Advance, LLC
4630 N. University Dr. #433
Coral Springs, FL 33061

National Payday Advance, LLC
2825 East Cottonwood Pkwy Ste. 500
Salt Lake City, UT 84121

Also, Steelers is right. A total of $34.95 is cheap to be done with this company.

Brownsugar... you are the best!!!! They are in Florida calling me from a 954 area code. So that's it!!! I will send them the $20 and get it over with. But what upsets me the most is the tone in his email and this is the same company that called my supervisor and told her everything about the loan and me defaultinng, etc.
It is the principle that bothers me.
Thanks for the info.

Okay, this is totally uncalled for. Send them a cease and desist letter at once stating not to contact you at work or home, or your supervisor, or any references that were on this account. If you could fax it, do that first and then send it certified mail with return receipt. This way you will have proof that they received the letter. Now it's time to file the proper complaints, The Better Business Bureau, The Office of the Attorney General in your home state as well as the state they are located in, and the division of financial institutions in your state as well. I take it this is an internet lender, correct? You may want to check to see if they are even licensed in your state to do business. Also check to see if they are licensed in their state to do business.

Mishele, yes they are internet PDL and they are not licensed in Florida, even though they are in South Florida. I am planning on calling the local police department and talk to an officer to let them know that they are harassing me, my family and work. I will file a complaint with the state AG and the BBB.
Do you think that is proper procedure on my part?

He is, and that is why he says that he is going back to collection full force if I do not pay him the $20 via Western Union. I am going to send him the Money Order because it is ridiculous to pay $14.95 to send $20 through Western Union. He won't get the money by 12 noon, and I want to see if he makes good on his threat to call everybody that knows me. Because in reality I have told everybody that he is harassing me and to tell him that they are recording him when he calls. I am not going to fall for this "I make the rules".

Plus the $20 deal is because I told him that they were illegal here in Florida (even though they are in Florida) and that I had already paid the loan and the finance charge allowed by the state These "extra $20" that they say that I owe because they are licensed in Delaware, according to him.. In reality I shouldn't give him anything.

I had the exact same problem with this company. They called my supervisor and I work with attorneys. I am not an attorney, but I went straight to my friend who is and this is by no means legal. Fight and fight hard. Bring this company down! Mind you I borrowed $200 from this company, and look at the email I got.

WOW! Sounds like a bunch of threats to me! I would definately file complaints with the Attorney General's office and the FTC! It was nice of them though to provide you with evidence of the threats. I especially like how they said "whatever else it takes to get paid", sounds like a huge threat to me!

FYI, as of May 2009, the domain is registered through GoDaddy, and the site is supposedly hosted by Alabanza. I'm not going to post the WHOIS info for cash-advance.us because I suspect it's fake.

To complain about "harrassing e-mails from your customer, cash-advance.us" try forwarding the e-mails (with complete headers) to "abuse@alabanza.com" and "abuse@navisite.com" - no guarantees, though.
