Been dealing with CASHNET500 since Nov trying to get them off my back.

Just got a call from a woman from Cashnet500, saying they want to settle this amicably because if not they will call the local authorities and have me arrested for writing a bad check accross state lines! I'm in Florida, they don't have a licence in Florida.

I asked her "what check did I write?" she said that since I did it on the internet gave them my account information blah blah blah that that is considered writing a bad check because the account is now closed and they cannot get their money. I told her that the account was paid in full. I paid them $405 on a $350 loan. She then put someone else on the phone who told me that in 1997 there was an interstate commectial act passed for the IRS. Whatever that means. I told him to do what he had to. He said he would and hung up on me. They want another $650 now.

What do I do now? Can I be arrested for this?

I filed one with my AG, their BBB and Florida Department of Financial Services. The BBB said they cannot contact them and are closing the file as they don't respond to anything from them. My AG referred me to the dept of financial services. And that one is still pending. I have just sent them another email in regards to this.

I was just curious on where he got that I passed a bad check across state lines....and he kept referring to their business is in Delaware, I thought they were in Utah.

Irhall41, anything that you sent to the Florida AG's office is cc to the Florida's Dept of Financial Services this is the agency that is assigned responsibility for licensing, examining and regulating financial institutions and financial sercice companies. Their phone number is (850) 413-3037 or (800) 342-2762

Jessi, Please do not worry you are not going to jail. These people are crazy. Yes they are in Utah. WV AG is suing this company as we speak and if they are in the right why did they not appear in court? They are blowing smoke dont give them another dime you have already paid enough. You will get the nasty little calls probably from someone named Tim or whatever he is calling himself nowadays. They will eventually give it up. Best Wishes KYSIDE38

Yes, some woman from Cashnet left me a voicemail at work last Nov. telling me that they were filing a judgment, my wages were going to be garnished, I am guilty of the bad check across state lines line they use, and that I would be receiving "legal papers", so she was calling to forewarn me.

It is now Feb., and I haven't received the first thing. They didn't respond to my BBB complaint either, so they are consistent in that respect.

Cashnet used to send e-mails and faxes to me at work when I defaulted in Dec of 2005. I sent them two certified letters, they refused the first one. They never responded to any of my complaints filed with government agencies. They never responded to any of my e-mails or faxes either. They are trying to scare you into paying more money. They cannot have you arrested and they can get in legal trouble for making such threats. It may take some time to hear back on your complaints.

Another call today, this time she was trying to get me to settle on the $650 they want. Said she would have my wages garnished. I told her she needed a judgement for that and hung up on her. She called back 2 more times yelled we will garnish your wages...you signed a irrevocable wage assingment. I laughed and hung up. Luckily I answered the phone at work today. This crazy. I called the FTC they are still investigating this...they said Cahnet would need a judgment to get anything...which I knew but it was nice hearing it! I'm so tired of this.

Well, they turned my acct. over to a CA who started calling me at work about the middle of March, "The Offices of Laurence A. Hecker, Attorney at Law."

I had filed complaints against Cashnet 500 and they never responded to the complaints, so now I'm stuck dealing with this shady CA who have been sued for violating fdcpa and are notorious for threats and harassment against consumers.

Tiffany, I forgot what state you are in. I would however file a complaint against the collection agency with the Attorney General also. The Attorney Generals office can make these collection agencys disclose who has these payday loans and can be held liable also. Especially in a state where the laws have been broken. Take Care KYSIDE38
