I have three negative marks on my credit report. I am not sure if these is an old debt that for some reason has been “ reactived” by unscrupulous bill collectors and turned into two after changing hands or just someone used my personal information to open phone services . I do recall an outstanding bill of $180.00 with GE about 6 years ago. I would like to clear my credit if it is the old skeleton that has been brought back to life !

It shows that I opened the accounts in 2005- and two were sold to one agency. Furthermore, one the account seems to be the same listed twice, except the total is off by few dollars.

I However since there is an additional social security that does not belong to me, I would like to know more about these debts. Has someone used my personal information to obtain services? Or are these debts linked to that additional social security number ?

What will be the most efficient way to take care of this problem. It is my understanding that sometimes the credit agencies when it comes to debt verification they just verify that name, and address is the same nothing more.
Is true?

Can I send a request for credit validation to the collection agency and a debt verification request to the credit bureaus?

I am not to clear on Debt verification vs. Debt confirmation.
What is SOL?

Looking at your post, I am pretty sure that there is a possible error in your credit report. Dispute the negative item you think is inaccurately posted in the file. The CRA will verify the item with the data furnishers and post correct info after your dispute is found correct.

It doesn't harm disputing any items with the bureaus and get them verified. If they are placed incorrectly, your credit is getting hurt severely because of wrong reasons. Credit bureaus often make such errors because of handling numerous consumer files.
