I got a letter from palisades attorney asking me to make a payment. here is the history of the payment which I am supposed to make
1. I broke the lease on an apartment managed by Southern Management in Florida in 2002. Later on I learnt that, Southern Mangement had put my account to collections.
They made me defaulter to an amount of 1500 while it should have been around 700.
Also they sold it to Palisades Collection.
2. What i find wrong.
a. Firstly, the amount I owe is not correct. It should be $700 and not $1500.
b. Secondly, in my credit report, the apartment complex where I rented and Southern Management, both of them have me as a defaulter on the account. So it looks like I
$1500 to both of them.
3. I did some research and found that:
1.I found that Southern management is no longer the responsible for management of the apartment complex.
2. The apartment complex is no longer an apartment complex. Each apartment has been sold of as a Condo.
4. What should I do:
I want to contest this account. But how I don't understand.

You can start by sending them a debt validation letter.Do a search for one on this board. After you send dv letter certified return receipt, start a dispute with the credit bureaus. You want to get specific as possible. Being specific will force them to actually investigate instead of just throwing a smoking fast verified back at you.
