Can payday loan companies serve you with papers

Do collection agencies for payday loan companies have the ability to send legal processors to serve you with papers or is this just a threat?
Anyone can sue anyone. If it is a legitimate debt then yes, the
Anyone can sue anyone. If it is a legitimate debt then yes, they can and will sue. But if the pdl is not legally licensed in your state, or not following your states laws, then generally it is just a threat to get you to pay. But they could try and sue you, thinking maybe you'd cave and pay up before you go before a judge.
