Welcome to the forum Bigtime! I don't recall reading any negative posts about this company, and could not find them on ripoffreport.com. Although the BBB has processed no claims about this company in the past 36 months, I am wondering why they have not supplied the requested info to the BBB. This could possibly be a red flag, something to ask the company about. It may be worth contacting the Attorney General's office for the state this company is located in to see if they have received any complaints, since the BBB has no record.
Request a copy of their contract and read through it thoroughly before signing or agreeing to anything. Ask if monthly or quarterly statements are issued to clients to show you how much money is building up in your settlement trust acct., how much of your monthly payment is going towards the consolidation company's fees, etc. Also, find out if you are entitled to a full refund of the funds in your settlement acct. should you decide to discontinue using the consolidation company's services. Make sure it states the refund policies in the written contract and that you agree with everything. Lastly, ask when they will start contacting your creditors to inform them that you are in a debt settlement program. Some debt settlement companies do not contact creditors until at least three months of a client being in the program, so the clients are still being harassed by the creditors.
There are so many bad debt settlement companies around that you really have to be careful and thoroughly check out a company that you're considering working with. If you decide to use this company, I hope you will continue to post on here and keep us informed of your ongoing experiences with this company as far as their customer service, and the results you get with them.
Clear Debt Solutions
I know of this company because they keep sending un solicited faxes in breach of the FPS code. Their own fax number - supposedly provided so that you can stop them doing it again - doesn't work. (Surprise, surprise). It's probably some spotty kid in his grotty bedroom.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
I just dropped out of Clear debt solutions' so-called "program" and filed for bankruptcy. I was in the program for less than 3 months and already was being sued by a creditor. Thankfully I sat down with a lawyer before the court date and he had the court date suspended. If you get sued by a creditor and they win a judgment it's actually more damaging than bankruptcy on your credit report. To make a long story short, Clear Debt Solutions has done NOTHING for me and pocketed $1800 in my money for their up-front non-refundable fees. I'm so glad I am done with them and moving on with my life.

The truth behind debt settlement
Heres' how it works folks. When you call Clear debt solutions or any other debt settlement compnay for that matter your speaking with a broker, yes a broker. Once your done consulting with the broker they send your file off to a "back end" wich does all the negotiating , follow up, and setteling of your debts. The fees are paid up front because once the consultaion is over they have nothing more to do with you. This is why there are differant 900 and 800 numbers that you need to call for information on your case. Creditors and collection agencies dont call the broker that got you into this mess they call another seperate entity that gets paid a fee from the broker for their services. Again this is why you pay your fees up front. The broker has washed their hands of you and will no longer have anything really to do with the process. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for...

Don't ever you a debt solution company
Anything they can do, you can do better! I know for a fact. I owed Amex 20K and negotiated it to 35% myself. You just have to be very Patient, and deal with the nasty people they hire to scare you and have cash...You truly do not need a debt Councilor, they are a scam at best...

john, maybe this is your experience with clear debt solutions but that is not at all how my experience went. you shouldnt classify all settlement companies in this catigory. there was 1 number that i called 1 agent assigned to my case, 1 person i could call at anytime that i had a question on my accounts.
and they did as promised negotiated my accounts and settled them. they got a % of what was saved so they had to work hard to get me the best settlement getting them the best payment. if they did not do a good job they did not get paid for that account.
so i know that there are scammers out there that are ripping people off, but its not fair to classify every single settlement company into this catagory of scammers. a few have given the whole industry a bad name.
GGonza, I would love to know how you negotiated 35% yourself.
