I am currently in a credit consolidation that is not to my liking. Not all of the creditors are accepting the terms, which is forcing further over limit and late charges on those cards. I just want to pay them all, get current and live on a budget that I can handle. To be debt free is far more important than having something just because you have the impulse to get it. It's far better to save for something and enjoy it knowing it is paid in full.
I'm under $5,000 in debt. I want to get it straightened out now. I'm tired of living in fear and debt depression.

mrwayyne...check out careonecredit.com. I consolidated all my CCs with them. You can do it all on-line without even picking up the phone. They will negotiate something for you and send you a letter with what the companies are willing to offer. If it is too high they will keep renegotiating until you have a total payment you want monthly. I know my total debt was close to $10,000 and my monthly payment was only $196. That has been the same way since I started and once you pay one off, you keep paying your montly amount and you just allot the money you were paying to one card to another (with highest interst) until you have them all paid off. I only have 2 left from the past 5 years and I started with 7. the good thing is once you enroll in the program, the cvlose your accounts and it doesn't hurt your credit that bad. They gave me all 1s out of a possible 4 I think (means I'm up to date). They also have deirect debit so they take mine out on the 5th of every month. Give them a try 8)

Mrwayyne,

Francis explained you the concept of the consolidation program very nicely. You make only one payment to the consolidation company and post it to all your creditors. When one of the accounts is paid off, the same amount can be used for paying the others in the plan. You can amend the plan as per your requirements. Talk to a consultant and figure out the best program for you. It won????????t take you long to become debt free as long as you are not missing any of the payments.
