Need help with letters
Date: Fri, 03/16/2007 - 20:35
1) His girlfriend is working with AFS and needs to write a letter to them so they stop taking the ACH out of her checking account.
2) I need an idea of how to write a forgiveness of debt letter.
The reason for this is that she is disabled and could only work no more than 10 hours per week. Now she has to quit her job so she can get a little more healthy so she can have major surgery. So the only income she has now is her ss disability and that is only $400 per month. and her payment to AFS is $446.60 so that leaves her nothing for food, lights, rent...NOTHING!!!! So I figured instead of her filing for BK again (she filed about 5 years ago) I would see what I could do with the help of all of you. I know right now some of the companies they are trying to work with are Washington Mutual, Capitol one  Exon Mobil, Bankcard services, Bellin health (medical bills), and a Cito(spelling???)gas card. The gas card one has been calling everyday and they know the situation and keep charging late fees and because of those fees the card is now over the limit which adds on even more fees plus interest. A CA from texas has this account. I am trying to find out the name but my dad just moved and all his stuff isn't unpacked yet. So he will get it to me as soon as he finds it.
If someone could help I would be very thankful!!!!

Have you looked in the Do It Yourself section on this website? They have great sample letters that might be able to help you.

Have you tried calling them, they may just do it over the phone if you call and then verify the income information via fax or mail. Give it a shot, maybe they will be able to help you with a phone call.
You can call the company that originally had the gas card and explain the situation to them, ask them who has it at this point. They may be able to tell you.
Do you have legal aid in your area, they should be able to help her for free since she is disabled.
She may have to do a power of attorney so that you can do more on her part. That can be done at the local notary office, print one off the internet, plug in yours and her information and have it notarized. I think legal aid would be your best bet, especially since she is low income. If you tell me you city and state I will do some research for you.

You may want to check the contracts too, see if there is any disability insurance plugged in, there may be. So they could be paying the bills for her as long as she has a physician sign the paperwork. Pull each contract and see, if you don't have the contract, call the company and ask for a copy.
