Wage assignment at my job

It depends on your state laws.

Do you know what are the state laws in california. I think it can only be one wage garnishment at a time but i am not sure

There is no number of garnishment maximum. As long as the totakl garnishments are 25% or less, it's legal.

But my wages are already being garnished by one company 25%. Can another company garnish

Not over 25% . . . . But if this other one is a wage assignment, then it is a voluntary deduction. Is it from a payday loan? Somewhere in a contract you signed it gave them permission to do this.

If it isn't a court ordered garnishment I would take it up with your payroll dept. I'm trying to find it right now, but I think in California only taxes and child support are allowed for wage assignments.

I don't mean to be picky, but when you type in all caps it's harder to read and is like you are yelling.

I am also in California and know that the 25 percent rule is spot-on. (Believe it or not, California knows that we have to have cash to pay our insanely high rents, mortgages, etc. :cry: ) And we're not going to go into the price of gas here , which was $3.15 a gallon for the cheap stuff this morning!!
Check and see if any of these are voluntary wage assignments and REVOKE THEM!!!!!!! Like I said, REVOKE THEM now!!!!!!!!
I would find out how much is being taken out for your first garnishment, which can only be done via court order, by the way and if it's already 25 percent, I really don't think they can do it.

I agree with you on that . . . If they are already taking out 25%, then unless they want to share in the 25% with the other company, nothing else can be taken out.

The reason why ia am typing in caps is because i am at work and i work for an ambulance company so my computer is always on caps. It is not that i am yelling. When i have visited this site in the past it was normally a lot of help. And no one ever said anything about me writing in caps

It's a personal preference for a lot of people on this site. It just makes things easier to read. But I also understand that in your line of work that how it is.
