Hello,
I know that this has been already asked and answered, but I can't find the org posts anywhere.

Can someone tell me how I can find out where there PDL companies that I am working with are licensed? If they are not licensed in PA (my state) are they doing business illegally?

Also, much debate has been goign on over whether they need to follow the 24% cap in PA. Goudah (who I will add seems VERY knowledgeable on bank issues) says that they must follow only the interest cap in the home state that they are licensed. But even if that is true, SURELY no state allows an annual percentage rate of over 600% to be charged????

Now that I have T&C on my side to take care of my remaining debts, I want to go after the companies that I have alredy paid off, and I want to write letters to my AG about all of them, but I want o be as informed as possible. I want to help others avoid this horrible trap, that has made MY life HEll for the past 6 mos.

BTW, I go my first nasty call from Epay today. SHe says that they WILL not work with T&C (T&C warned me that they would try this) and when I asked her if they were licensed to do business in PA, she said "just give us the original $250 back and we'll call it even". They must know they are in the wron if they are so willing to capitulate! I said that I fully intend to pay back the $250, but it will be through T&C. SHe accused me of "stealing thier $250" and hung up on me.

You are kind of right. Pennsylvania is a wierd state. The 24% small loan rate cap doesn't apply to payday loans. That information is from the banking dept of Pennsylvania and you can view the email I recieved from them here

There are many states that have no cap on the interest that a pdl can charge. Of course, that is where most of these places are registered.

Since PA doesn't allow PDL's to physically operate there, there is no PA licensing requirement. As long as they are licensed in a state, they can lend in PA.
