I have heard of them, but don't know anything about them. Like you, I am extremely wary of debt settlement companies. In fact, I am extremely wary of anything to do with debt consolidation/settlement/remediation. I've been burned a couple of times now, and my credit report is in ruins.
Take Bossy's advise and check this company out before signing ANYTHING or giving them any of your personal information. One thing I did like about their program is that you do not pay money to them for an escrow account while you are saving up funds to start the debt settlement process. You start your own savings acct. to do this. Obviously, you have to be disciplined enough to do it, but at least you don't have to worry about payments being taken from your acct. every month and then finding out you've been scammed.

I'm glad you had a good experience with them, but it appears as though they have been reprimanded by the BBB for making claims to that they are in good standing. This is from the BBB's report for this company...
"BBB Membership Status
In May, 2007, the company agreed to stop making claims in emails to potential clients that "We have an 'A' rating with the Better Business Bureau" and "We actually have a very good standing with the BBB!". The business is not a member of this Better Business Bureau, does not have an "A" rating, and is not in "very good standing with the BBB". Our policies prohibit such a reference."
