My husband and I were both out of work last year and as a result have 40,000 id cc debt. It is becoming hard to make payments. How can we negotiate with these companies

Take the free counseling call, they'll help you explore your options. You don't have to use them, but if you have any company help you with your debt, do your research before signing any contract.
Also, be sure to check the DIY section. If you do DIY, post your problems and successes to the board so you can get additional info, and share effective techniques with others.
