I noticed collection agencies from time
to time have been looking at my credit
report.I know why they are doing it but
I want to know how long they can? Is there a statute on this as to when
they stop?

Collection agency must have a valid purpose before they put any inquiry in your credit report. Usually, they try to ruin your credit ratings without authorized purpose. Every time someone requests your credit report, you lose 2 points. 10 times= -20 points. Just on a simple credit report request, you lose your valued scores.

Some collectors using illegal means do an inquiry to find out your present financial status and under the guise of checking for issuance of new credit. This activity is illegal and severely punishable both in civil and criminal court. Check the entries put by the collector and see if they have a genuine reason to stay on your file.

FMA Alliacnce had an inquiry on my credit report on 4/23 and then on 5/15 I recieved a letter stating they are collecting on one of my charged off accounts, so I pulled my credit report and bam they're not on it only on the inquiry...I think they're trying to rip me off, and isn't it illegle to inquiry on my credit before notifing me? I'll be sending them a DV tomorrow
