I owe app. 5000.00 Capital One credit card company. .it is now up to 10,000 with late charges and interest. . I need someone to help me negotate and lower what I owe. . and make reasonable monthly payments

If you go to the Do It Youself link under Other Services on the side of this thread you will find a section for letters. There is a sample letter for making a compromise offer. Most companies would rather settle than charge off a debt or go to court. If they see you are willing to work with them they will stop pursuing legal actions. Aim low your first time and they may surprise you with their reply. There is a wealth of information on this site that can really be beneficial to you. The people here are great and want to help.
