Does any one know of a reputable company that deals with unsecured loans and less than perfect credit ratings?

I signed up with a consolidation sompany, but I am second guessing myself about the choice now.

I just want everything under one payment.

The company that contacted me was CCCCA (Consumer credit counseling of America) and they are putting me with the Law Offices of that Brennan feller.

Everything sounded legit when I talked with them over the phone and I was somewhat pleased with what I was hearing. The first lady told me that I could cancel out of the plan all the way up to when I receive the paper work (before I signed). The second lady told me that regardless of whether or not I sign, I will still be responsible for ~$300 in attorney fees.

After I got off the phone, I immediately came on this site and looked up that Brennan (or however you spell it) feller and saw the long posting with all the complaints and he defending hisself.

Obviously, this has me worried. I did not go looking for debt relief just to be back in more debt.

I was only looking for consolidation - not settlement by the way (if that matters).

Now I am learning that I can negotiate consolidation with my creditors and not have to go through an attorney. The extra money it would cost me for the initial upfront cost and the extra I have to put with it every month could go a long way in paying off the debt vs. rearranging it.

I haven't signed any contract with them as of yet. I haven't even received my paperwork from them.

If I don't like the contract, or I decide to back out of it, I do have a back door escape route.

I am not saying that they would do this, but I refuse to be taken advantage of.
