Hi, I'm new and was on your site reading everything and I recently signed up. I feel better knowing that I'm not alone in all this.

thanks Karen, I appreciate the kindness. I was gonna join a debt consolidation thing after my husband and I refinanced our home. we had money that i was using to catch up on things, I put money away in case something happened. everything was going good until he lost his job and he had to go get a new one. my plans are shot, I'm late with everything, the savings I had I had to use for bills and that's just about out. he applied and is in training for a better job, I wish that would hurry up and happen. in the meantime, he's working a job that doesn't pay as much as before, but it's better than nothing. I'm working too. I work parttime for a temp agency doing a long assignment, and I really like it. just when i finally find something that i really enjoy, this happens. I'm so tired and I feel like a big loser. I don't sleep. I'm tired of all the phone calls, the threats, I can't take this.

You are not a loser, you just fell on hard times. I know so well how that can be. Right after 9/11 my hubby lost a very good paying job. But he did go back to a job he had before and still got his benifits. But we lost $4000 a month in income (yes I was working too). It has been a very long road and a big change in eating/spending habits and too many payday loans, but we are finally coming ahead. I had to contact the credit card companies and see what they could do for us, contacting all the other places we owed money to, it was alot of work but we got through. So I know you can also. If you need help with some companies/business we can help you. There is a do it yourself section that can help you with some letters. But if you need help on starting just ask away. We will be here, because we have been in the same situation. We can be a great support system also. If it wasn't for this place, I KNOW i wouldn't be where I am today. The people here are here for you when you have good news and they are here for you when you are having a bad day. So hang in there. It took you awhile to get into the situation you are in, so it will take you time to get out. But you will feel better everyday you work on getting your debts under control and the day you are not scared to answer your phone will be a sign of success.

I know how you feel!! I was working as a counselor for 14+ years, thought my job was secure,it wasn't, and and I had 4 days notice I was out!

It really put us in a bind, things got behind, etc., and I was with no hope of anything getting better. Then I found this site!

With the help and support, and some hard work, we are almost out of debt now, would be except for a bottom feeder collection agency I can't get rid of!!

Don't answer the phone- they won't work with you and it only upsets you. Do all correspondence via mail, and keep copies. If you have specific questons about what to do about your debt, please ask.Good Luck..KAren :D

Oh Luke,

You brought tears to my eyes! I have a few issues myself and was feeling so down.

You are so right we have to stand up and fight. I have to tell you I was afraid to answer my own phone and now I can't wait for it to ring. I answer it with confidence and let them have it.

The other day I answered to get a gal say "Who's this?" I proceeded to tell her you rang my phone, who's this? Well after to teaching her phone manners, it turned out to be a legitimate wrong number. LOL

Thanks for giving Moki her confidence back.!

Hey, Luke..we ALLL know that Darth Vadar was your dad, but, let's not go overboard!! LOL Just kidding. Alot of what you have posted, has helped me a GREAT deal. Just knowing there are other people, going through the same thing, as I am, makes dealing with issues, alittle easier.
