Send debt satisfaction evidence to credit bureaus

Are there some pitfalls I should avoid--things to say, not to say, ask, not to ask--in a cover letter accompanying evidence that a debt I co-signed for has been discharged? I have a letter of debt satisfaction from the creditor, and want to mail that to credit bureaus. Has anyone had experience with this?
