You may or may not. They may have backed off form collecting the debt. Many a times they are just the junk debt buyers and don't possess the right documents to validate the debt. They only threat you over the phone using obscene language, and try to get lucky this way to make as much as possible form you. You can expect any of the following scenario
- It may be taking little more than a month, but they will send you proper validation of the debt.
- They will stop collecting from you and may even eliminate the account from your report.
- Will sell the account to another party. So, may get call for another CA in future demanding collection on the same account.
Just check for one more week or so and then push another DV letter their way. You may get lucky this time.
N.B. always communicate with them via registered post.
I am needing to send a validation letter
I received a summons (delivered by a deputy) to respond within 30 days. What type of validation letter did you send them? (example). My account was 500, but they want 1500. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi lindy, have you sent the DV letter to the CA after being contacted by them? The collection agency is required to send you a letter of verification within the first five days of their first contact. In which they need to disclose the total amount owed, name of the original creditor and other such related facts.
After receiving the letter of verification the debtor needs to send the DV within thirty days. Hence, its important for us to know whether such action had taken place form your side or not.
If the collector had sued you without validating the debt, they are violating the law. Please let us know these details, we can then offer further assistances to you.
