Once the Plaintiff has filed and you have answered, it's up to the court to set a date for the hearing, so it's out of the plaintiff's hands at this point. Courts can move slow, but a year and a half seems excessive. It would be in your best interest to contact the court and ask about that, since only the initial correspondence needs to be delivered to you by an officer of the court. Once you have answered the summons any correspondence from the court regarding dates or changes to the case only needs to come to you by us mail.
