I am currently involved with a consolidation company. They have failed to make arangements with the CAs regarding my old accounts that I would like to pay off. I am seriously considering bankruptcy because I was just sued for one of them. Is a settlement company best for me or bankruptcy? All together I owe back approx $8,000 for all of them. I spoke to a bankruptcy lawyer and he said, of course, to file bankruptcy. I don't know what to do. I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

It sure sounds like you would be a good candidate for debt Settlement.Debt Settlement is a hardship program for people who can`t afford the payments for a debt management plan, can't continue paying minimum payments, can't borrow to pay off debts and don't want to file bankruptcy. If and only if you are overextended or if your debt are already severely delinquent should you consider debt settlement. It will get you a monthly payment around half of what you would pay in a dmp and you will be out of debt usually around 24-36 months. This program does hurt your fico score because creditors won`t settlement until the account is 120 days + past due. However if you are a good candidate for this program your bills are most likely past due anyways or about to be so the fact it hurts your score would be irrelevant. This program is designed to get you out of debt fast so you will be in a prime position to start reestablishing your credit and avoid bankruptcy. Be sure when shopping around that you make sure the company has a good record with the BBB and is members of TASC or USOBA. Here are the names of a few reputable settlement companies that are members of the BBB and TASC or USOBA. New Beginnings debt settlement LLC , Century Negotiations and Superior debt relief. I am not endorsing them but just pointing you in the right direction because there are a lot of crooked settlement companies out there. I hope this helps. :D
