Here is a thread that talks about Maine laws, it also has a link in that gives more information.

If you have paid 270 towards this loan, then you technically only owe them 30 more dollars. I would file a complaint with the ftc and your Attorney general. I would send a letter to UCL stating your states laws and a Cashiers check for $30 and tell them don't bother you anymore.

Didn't Maine Banking Secretary (or whatever the correct title is) issue a Cease-and-Desist Order to UCL last year? It probably won't stop the collection calls, since they claim to be above the law, but at least you can rest assured you don't owe them anything more.

You may have to add or delete a few items to fit your needs. I would send it both to UCL and UsfastCash. Let them know you will only pay back what they deposited into your account. You may want to include a cashiers check for the remaining balance and ask them to mark your account paid in full.
