Am I libel for a debt that is over ten years old when then has been no notification to me of the debt until just recently

Welcome to the Community :D I am not sure what state you live in, but chances are, it is past the Statute of Limitations.

This does not mean you may still owe the debt, but that it cannot be legally enforced for them to collect.

If you can list what state, we can look and be sure..karen

Chances are your are in the clear and is past the statute of limitations. Pay heed to zombie debt collectors though, they will do everything they can from bait and switching credit card offers and tack on your old debt on there, threaten and sue so you can make a payment, and all in order for your debt to become active again.
