debt consolidation of deceased person
Date: Tue, 12/02/2008 - 11:53
We are in a real pickle. My wife's father had passed away (as did her mother) leaving huge debts on several credit cards. We had been advised not to pay them until the estate is settled. However, the credit cards are accumulating substantial interest and penalty charges that may double the original amounts owed by the time the estate is settled. Can I get the credit card companies to freeze interest and penalties on a deceased relatives credit cards? OR is it possible to have debt consolidation on a deceased persons credit cards?
Contact the companies and tell them the estate has not been sett
Contact the companies and tell them the estate has not been settled. They probably think the person is still living. They should work with you. If not you may have to negotiate with them after the fact.
