A creditor garnished one of my checking accounts. It's with a credit union, so I only keep it open to make my car payment. Can they go after my other checking account with another bank at the same time?

Can the same checking account be garnished twice and how many times can they take money from an account on one garnishment?

Have you ever received a summons from this creditor.

Most likely the creditor went to civil court and received a default judgment against you then was able to levy your bank account. I would call the bank and get the company's information that has placed the levy on your account.

If you were not notified properly with a summons, I would push for a vacate of the judgment.

Guest is correct the levy can stay on your account and will not be lifted untill the total debt is satisfied :?
