Recently there has been some discussion in this forum regarding FreeStar Financial. I wanted to provide details from my personal experience so that others in my situation can benefit. I called FreeStar and spoke with Steve Abelman who is one of the principals for 30 minutes. I wanted to find out all the details about Debt Settlement, i.e. the good, the bad and the ugly.

Steve patiently explained that debt setlement is not for everyone and that in order to succeed you need to brace yourself and be strong willed while you are being chased after by the creditors and collection agencies. After carefully reviewing the details of my situation (cc debt of $80k and a loss of income) Steve referred me to a bankruptcy attorney so I could compare BK vs. debt settlement. After speaking with the attorney I called Steve back and enrolled with FreeStar. I did not realize how the new BK laws would prevent me from filing a Chapter 7 and thus wiping out my debts.

I am very pleased and know I am in good hands with FreeStar!
