My husband is selling his property. Well we found out there is a judgment against it. His x wife and him had filled bankruptcy 12 years ago. The lawyer who did that, has now been disbarred. I don't know if he did his job right now that a judgment is against the land for one of the credit cards he filled bankruptcy on. Well the lawyer is tracing down who would have the judgment so it can be paid or just written off. Well it has gone through 4 different companies now. Chase Manhattan is suppose to have it now. The lawyer and I both have been calling and faxing different people for over a week now and NO ONE calls back. Well tonight I finally got a PERSON on the phone. She looked it up and shows no SSN or name or address at all in her records.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What can I do?????????
judgment on property
Look up the statute of limitation for civil actions. Check to see if the judgment is outside of the law. You can then file with the County Recorder a notice to that effect.
Your best course is to find out who has the debt, tell them about the statute of limitations and if in your favor ask them to release the claim or face a law suit.
That's the problem..........We don't know who has it. So far we
That's the problem..........We don't know who has it. So far we traced it to Chase Manhattan, but we have called and called and no one knows anything, and trying to get a person on the phone is ridiculous. I have a sheet of everyone I have talked to and their phone numbers. You call them back the next day and they say so and so don't work here and your in the wrong department. I have been transferred to so many departments and left numerous messages. No one calls back, NO ONE. I did get one woman on the phone and she had no record by the SSN, name and address. WHAT TO DO??????
