I have a charged off macy's account that has been bought by ACB American.

Abnout two weeks ago I sent a validation request.

Spoke with them yesterday and they said yes they can validate, but that will take about 6 weeks and after that they will not settle for less than 100% (I don't believe them), but they did offer me a settlement today for 50%. I know I owe this and the account number is correct, so chances are they will be able to validate it.

Should I just go ahead and settle the account, or should I wait until they validate it and call their bluff. And if I do decide to settle now I will offer 30%.

I think you can negotiate with them now and see if they will agree to 30%. If they agree, then ask for the settlement agreement in writing without which you won't pay them. Make sure to negotiate with them about the credit report as well. Ask them to report the account as 'Paid' instead of 'Paid as settled' or 'Settled'.
