I was currently working with a law firm on debt settlement (began Sept. 2006 to the present). My total debt was/is about $20,000 and they told me they would be able to settle most accounts for 50%. Well 9 months have since past and not one creditor has been paid. I've already paid them a total of $4284 dollars, of which $1500 was payable to them. I am now getting calls from creditors as they haven't seen any payment come their way. Is there any way for me to get help???

You should ask the law firm when they are going to send proposals to your creditors. Tell them that it's getting impossible for you to see the phone ringing all the time. Since you have hired their services, they should let you know about the actual status of your account.

You need to be fast on your move before the credit company decides anything legal and takes you to the court.
