I want to settle my debt but I also want my credit cards to remain active and to help my credit score the most, what choices do I have?

Why do you still want the cards? I would imagine if you do a settlement, they will be closed by the cc company anyway. Ours were.
Our credit has recovered and we settled on 9 cards. Yours will too. Getting your debt to income ratio back to what it should be and time--two of the factors that worked in our favor for that.
