My mother has passed away around 3 months ago. She had added me to all her credit cards. Now that she is no more alive, all her creditors are calling me for payments. Am I responsible for the payments? A debt collection agency from Vernon, Alabama called me yesterday. The collector is telling that I need to pay off all the debts. I'm still in college. What should I do in this situation?

If you were added as an authorized user, you have no legal liability. Call all your creditors and get yourself removed. If you were not a coborrower, you do not have to pay anything.

I'm not sure if I'm the co-borrower or the authorized user of the credit card. How do I know about it?

Did you sign up the agreement for the card when the account was opened?? Or were you added after it was opened. You should also be able to tell on your credit report.
