i signed up with care one online and after looking at the numbers thought the dsp would be better, well, i didn't realize the fees these ppl are charging, she said it would cost probably $11k to settle all my debts at 50% I have a total of about 57k. Im like what?@!?!?!? So screw that
I'm going to do it myself.

However, out of my 14 cards, only 2 are past due right now, one is 101 days the other is 120, they are my 2 biggest cards, one is over 10, the other is close to 9.

So my question is, do I try to bring these 2 more current and wait for the others to try to settle them? I dont have anything yet to settle with.

Here's the breakdown.

3 chase accounts

4097
2652
4193

discover 5198
discover biz 1782

commerce visa 5149

2 Citi accounts - these are the 2 most far behind
AmEx 10965
Master 9724

gap visa 2504
Amex Delta 991
AmEagle 95 - this will be paid
Gordmans 510
tires plus 296 - i will prob pay this
kohls 713
hsn 169 - i will pay this off
TOTAL - 49038
Lending club - 9000 - I'll probably keep paying this, it's almost current

I have about 1400/mo to work with if im not paying these, I have a car loan for another year and I don't own anything else.

I was already behind on everything and i called this month and made payments and actually got on hardship plans for all the big accounts except the citi accounts, and made payments to the others and such. I then changed my mind and decided I wanted to try to do DSP instead.

From what I've read ppl start getting settle offers at 120-160 days out?

Do I have some time to work with these citi accounts or what should i do, i could probably bring them current with a couple payments and getting on a DMP.

I appreciate any input, I am religiously trying to follow a strict budget, because I got myself into such a mess, fortunately I am employed now and can see myself digging out, but this does NOT include the over 100k in student loans I have, so that is why I was leaning more towards DSP for these accounts because I'm going to need all I can to be paying on my student loans.

thanks for the advice!

Do you want to go for DSP or DMP mate? Clarify this first.

Some people get settlement offers after 120-160 days. But not all. Contact the Citibank asap.

You can bring them current. However, they may not agree to settle the debt once you get current. They will think that you can afford to make the payments.
