 I dealt with them as Christian Debt Counseling about 4 years ago - SCAM - They were making my payments later than I was - when I paid my debts off myself and went to get my "graduation payment" they changed their phone #'s and returned mail unopened. never did get my money back

I am not familiar with that company but I can tell you the things you should be asking.
1. Does the debt settlement company have attorneys who oversee your case that are licensed in your home state? Many debt settlement companies do not have attorneys and it is far better to have an attorney based debt settlement company then a non attorney. Attorneys are bound by a code of ethics and know the laws in your state.
2. Does your money go towards settling your debt from day one of the program? You do not want to go with a debt settlement company that takes all their fees up front before going towards settling your debts. Once their fee has been paid, they have little incentive to make sure you complete the program.
3. Do they do an in depth analysis of your financial situation to determine if debt settlement is right for you? The only way to be sure that debt settlement is the right program for you, is to analyze your total financial situation. It may be that debt settlement is not a good option for you and you should consult with a company that will provide you with educated advice.

Hey there stewart. Can you tell me what flavor fee model the company you work for uses?
Is it the: somewhere around 15% of the debt submitted, with 1/2 of monthly payment going to those fees over a 12-18 month period?
I am just curious.
